Barbados Welcomes Leandro Soto

Inspirazione Italiana performance
Performance Video Installation at Aweipo Gallery, St Phillip, Barbados.

After living in Arizona for seven years, the artist moved his art studio to Barbados, West Indies in 2009. Living on the island reconnected him with his Caribbean roots after being away for so long. As a celebration of this reintegration, he was invited to do a Solo Show at Aweipo Art Gallery. The exhibition was curated by Wayne Cezair, Director of the Caribbean Travelling Film School, with the support of Juliana Inniss, Gallery owner and Director.

Barbadian artists from diverse disciplines participated in the performance, including dancers Dr. Yanique Hume, a member of the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of The West Indies, and Angelique Brathwaite. As a happening, the audience was invited to participate, following the live Caribbean rythms played by local musicians.
