Elegua Cafe

Created and directed by Leandro Soto

This is an adaptable group performance piece that involves live music. Especially created for open spaces, this piece integrates music, dance, pantomime, drawing and painting. It is based on the heritage of African cultures in displacement, as those in Cuba: Yoruban and Abacua among others.

The performers invite the audience to participate and interact making the performance ideal for celebrations and festivals. This piece evokes Cuban carnivals where everything is mixed under the rhythm of the drums and singing, where profane and sacred dance are at the same level of presence.
