Inside the ARtist's Imagination
Performance/Video/Installation by Leandro Soto and Company
The theater space and the accompanying drama of the stage become a laboratory for the artist's imagination. The visual artist as performer uses this laboratory to develop new forms of expression. In this piece the artist paints characters on newspaper that first appear in his inner world. Actors in masks then give life to these characters. Music, dance, theater and drawing are created in front of the audience.
As in a mask party, the audience is welcome to move around the space freely. The conventional separation between stage and audience is erased. All the space is “the performance area” and the performers “do not perceive” the spectators. The spectators are invisible for the actors.
