Liborio Wants to Escape

Leandro Soto's Liborio Wants to Escape is a performance / video / installation that takes its inspiration from a Cuban comic character created by Ricardo Torriente at the beginning of the 20th Century. Leandro Soto reanimates this figure – a representation of Cuban people – as a vehicle for making commentaries about the situation in Cuba today. In this performance Liborio walks, dances, gesticulates, dresses and reproduces the mannerism of every character he is compelled to incarnate.

Liborio Wants to Escape has been presented at international art festivals as well in national events.
